Two best friends have set off on their row across the Atlantic ocean in what has been described as the world's toughest endurance race.
Luke Birch and Jamie Sparks, both 21, are the youngest competitors in this year's Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
Teams, including Luke and Jamie rowing as “2 Boys in a Boat” will row more than 3,000 nautical miles, non-stop in two hour shifts across the world’s second largest ocean.
Luke, whose family own Doddington Hall, has seen both his mother and grandmother diagnosed with breast cancer so the pair hope to raise £100,000 for Breast Cancer Care with a proportion earmarked for services within the county.
There are currently 20 teams entered in the race with 12 of which are British.
During the race they will not be allowed any outside assistance and will have to survive with on board supplies, making their dehydrated food with water produced by a solar powered desalinator.
The duo will be sending regularly updates on their progress throughout the race.
