Our ideal weekend

Being a former professional football player and now a full-time manager of Gainsborough Trinity Football Club my weekends normally consist of football and more football.

The kids probably don't see as much of their dad as they should because of the job I do.

But when we get the chance to get away for a day or two as a family we love to head just up the road to Cleethorpes. It's not far away from us at all which is good because you don't have to worry about the journey there and back.

Our kids are all still at that age where they love playing in the sea and on the sand.

They love the rides and amusements of course, like most other kids.

They dictate what we do but Alison and I enjoy it.

The fish and chips always seem to taste different at the seaside as well – much better than your local chippy.

I have to admit I do have a habit of getting distracted by the slot machines.
