Police were called to a house in Windsor Gardens, Long Sutton, on Wednesday evening following reports of a domestic incident.
The body of a 46-year-old woman was discovered at the scene.
A Home Office pathologist has been carrying out a post-mortem examination but the cause of death has not yet been revealed.
A police spokesman said the name of the victim was expected to be released today.
