Traders at this year's Lincoln Christmas Market declared the event a huge success.

Stephen Harper, of Winbridge Craft, said: "It was really good last year and is just as good this year. Everything was here on time to set up which is more than can be said for other markets."

David Steele, of Hawks of Steele falconry displays, was impressed with his first experience of the Christmas Market.

"It has been absolutely brilliant," he said. "This is the first time we have done the market in Lincoln and we will definitely be coming back.

"We have had great support from the public."

The number of people using park and ride services was higher up on last year's event.

Around 130 coaches were in operation during the four-day event, transporting visitors to the market.

Lindsey Aldridge travelled from Rotherham with six colleagues from the same ward of Rotherham General Hospital.

She said: "We come every year. It is lovely and very festive as usual."

Businesses on Steep Hill were also reporting much higher levels of trade.
