Put your sun tan lotion away and get ready for an August washout

Lincolnshire's summer heatwave is set to end with a washout in August.

If you’ve been getting used to sitting out in a bikini or making a splash in your local pool during one of the hottest months of July ever recorded, then it is time to put the sun tan lotion away.

Instead, you are more likely to need your wellies, raincoat and umbrella next month.

The weather is expected to turn colder from now on, beginning with north and west of England today as scattered showers begin this evening.

The South East will remain warm and sunny, however the outlook gets worse with showers anticipated throughout England at the weekend.

Temperatures, particularly in the north, are only expected to reach the mid-teens.

While the country can hope for a few more dry days next week, the rain is expected to remain a feature for the rest of August.

The last long range forecast had the Hot & Dry weather continuing "well into August". Lets see how accurate this one is :)
