A traditional ale is being launched to raise money for a city centre memorial.

The beer, called Lincoln Tank Ale, is brewed by Pheasantry Brewery of East Markham.

For every cask sold, a donation will be made to the Lincoln Tank Memorial Group.

The beer will be sold in a range of Lincolnshire pubs including the Dambusters Inn at Scampton.

It is described as a "well hopped classic English beer with a full rounded flavour and low to medium bitterness".

Mark Easterbrook, 47, from Pheasantry Brewery, said: "It's brewed to be a traditional English beer. It's sort of supposed to represent time gone by. From a timing point of view it's been a nice thing to do because of Remembrance Day – it all fits in a little bit with that."

The Lincoln Tank Memorial Group is dedicated to increasing the recognition of Lincoln's tank heritage.

It is aiming to put a full size 2D model of a Mark 1 tank on the roundabout at the end of Tritton Road.

This is near where the first tank came off the production line at Foster's factory in 1916.
