Five-year wait for new Tesco Extra store in Gainsborough to continue

A five-year wait for a new Tesco Extra store which will create 200 new jobs in a West Lindsey market town is still rumbling on.

But the supermarket giant is confident that it will nearly double the size of its Gainsborough store. In 2012 the retail firm renewed the planning consent it first obtained in 2008 from West Lindsey District Council for a huge new superstore to replace the Beaumont Street building.

Tesco have confirmed that they still intend to go ahead with the project when the economic climate is right.
